Craniosacral Therapy

 What is Craniosacral Therapy ?

The Craniosacral system includes the Cranium (Head), Dural  Tube (spinal cord), Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) and the Sacram  (tailbone). However, it can be accessed anywhere on the    body. The CSF travels from the Cranium down the Spinal Cord  to the Sacrum and back up again in ebb and flow  motioncausing all of the bones in the body to moveto a point  of flexion and extension according to the distribution of fluid.  This motion is called the Cranial Wave.

The spinal cord is connected to S2 on the sacrum and the cervical vertebrae C2 and C3. It then becomes the matrix of connective tissue that lines the inside of the cranium and the connective shelf that holds the brain in place inside the Cranium. When there are restrictions in the body the nerves pull on the spinal cord and cause tension on the spinal cord, as well as throughout the connective tissue of the cranium, causing dysfunction in the endocrine and nervous system responses.

The Craniosacral Therapist follows the motion of the Cranial Wave, and finds restrictions in the System. While following the Cranial Wave, the therapist facilitates change in the  system by allowing the body's natural self correcting  mechanism to engage and correct itself. This process allows the body to unwind soft tissue and fascia; realigns skeletal structure; and creates moreover all resilience in the nervous  system. It helps the body process and discharge daily stresses and trauma that get stored in the nervous system and tissues.
